Under Georgia Code §19-13-4, courts issuing Temporary Protective Orders (TPOs) and Family Violence Protective Orders may require completion of a Family Violence Intervention Program (FVIP) or DV education.
Georgia §16-5-23.1 (Battery — Family Violence) is the most commonly charged DV offense. First offenses are misdemeanors; second offenses within 5 years become felonies. Courts routinely order DV education as a probation condition.
